So I've recently started having mic problems.

I have (had I guess) a pretty nice headset. I plug it directly into my gaming keyboard. Everything has been working fine and dandy for well over a year. Then last week, my mic suddenly doesn't pick up. I go into the test mode in Teamspeak, try and tweak sensitivity, to no avail. When plugged in and unmuted, I can see some gauge in there that something is being picked up, but I can yell and scream and nothing ever registers. I can never hear myself speaking. I have also tried plugging the sound and mic plugs into a USB device and tried various USB ports on the tower itself, and no difference.

Sound is great, just not sure why the mic would suddenly crap out. I'm hesitant to go buy a new set (might buy some $10 ones just to eliminate the possibility that the PC is somehow involved).

I've done all the system settings shit, drivers, etc...everythign seems okay, just not picking up sound correctly. Any ideas?

Please list your headset model and when you first bought it.

I'm pretty sure your mic took a poop. I highly recommend the gamescon 780.

I'm at work so I don't know what the model is, but I'll check when I get home.

The set that was flaking out was an $80 pair of Logitechs. They were awesome! Kids dropped them on the floor too many times I guess (this is the second nice set they ruined). I even had a shitty pair for them they ruined. So I got the $15 set yesterday, it works although the sound quality is shit, but if they ruin these ones its only $15. I'll probably keep using my nice ones on nights I don't get on TS, because the sound quality is far superior, much easier to pin point footsteps and player locations with better sound.

I recommend getting a ModMic (rev 4.0) and attaching it to your good-sounding headset. That way you have a good mic and good sound.

Sorry for your loss(es).

Yeah but not one that sounds great. I spent $100 on a headset and it still doesn't sound good enough to me.
