So, let me first say that watching this movie makes me miss the Navy. The brotherhood that I had in my squad was undying. We were like a giant family and I think this movie really shows how much of a family we all were. I was not a Navy seal aka frogman. But I have brothers who are and I couldn't be more proud of them.
Watching this movie was incredibly touching for me as it hurts every time one of my oath keepers die. The movie follows to mission Operation Red Wing were the United States lost 19 special forces and associated details. They were hunting a Taliban operative who was responsible for harming many civilians. Upon the course of the mission, the team got faced with an incredibly grave situation, that happens often...shit hits the fan. Choosing the more human route that saves lives but put theirs up for offer in place the shit truly hits the fan and the movie turns into a none stop fire fight.
What really got me about the movie was that the lone survivor Marcus Luttrell assisted in the making of this movie to make it as close to what happened as he could. I'm sure a few things are flared up for cinema but from his own words this is the closest someone will get to being with a seal team in a fire fight.
One thing to remember, even as the seals took their last breaths they never gave up. Give up isn't in the dictionary, fight till you die. Proud to be a United States Navy veteran, SALUTE!
Needless to say, if you are into military movies it is a must see in my opinion. I really dig how at the end of the movie it remembers each of the service members who lost their life in that operation. May the be with peace in their next lives, TO THE FOAM LADS! HOOYAH!
