Logitech G500 is great. Adjustable weight, gripping texture, individual x-y DPI and on the fly toggling to different DPI presets. Great mouse, although my first one died out and started to fail mid-game. I attribute that mostly to young children dropping it on the floor repeatedly.

I have a g500 as well, I like it a lot. They were selling for $40 a few months ago.

I really like the DPI on the fly things which acts as a sens adjuster in game.

It sounds silly but I love the texture grip on the g500. I think you'll like it.

I just bought a goliathus control mousepad, I haven't been using a mousepad for quite a long time. Just using my mouse on my desk I find it to be kinda jerky and no as accurate. We will see how it works in a couple days.

g500 would be nice if it were more reliable. bumpkin had one and it pooped out in a few months.. it was good until it did though Very Happy

i have the mx518 (they dont make it anymore) and it feels like it will never die. mine is already 5 years old, works like brand new.. and i LOVE the size and shape. i have big hands and need a big mouse lol. they sell it now too under a new name and it has some more dpi, but otherwise should be the same as the mx518 (i think the new mx518 is the g400, not 100% sure though.. )

Out of curiosity, does the g500 switch DPI instantly, or is there a lag? I use a DeathAdder, and the switching is done via a macro you map to one of the buttons - the crappy part of having this software (not driver) configurability is that it's not instantaneous, takes about 1 second to switch modes. There is a workaround (sortof) but it occupies two buttons. For now I bind the sensitivity adjustment control to one of the buttons as it changes the sensitivity (not DPI) instantly.

It seems instantaneous to me. At least I've never noticed any latency but it's not something I'm going to use in fight either

Frankly, I never use that feature. I tried to in the early days, but I found a DPI that I like (really really high) and I stick with it. Don't even independently tweak axis' either.

yeah as beck said. its a lot easier to use constant dpi and just toggle the sensitivity in game if need be..

but i can say from experience that the buttons that change dpi on the g500 changes instantly. as well as the dpi for the mx518 (now g400)

I use the Razer Lachesis. One DPI only but individual config'd x/y axis that i use at all times in all games, RPG through shooter.
