I dont like tower but its a good map to vote in when you only got a couple people on the server and some in spec waiting to get things started. It pisses me off though when it gets voted in when its 8v8 and the games are good and competitive.

Every once in a while its good to just chill out and not have to take a map seriously for a bit when your playing for long stretches I get that. Its just the timing and consistancy of when this map gets voted in that sucks sometimes. But fuck it, its map voting so deal.

Just wanted to add some feedback after now having played since the change.

Found that we were just playing the same maps over and over last night because after each map theres really only 1 reasonable choice. For example this is what we were often faced with..

- Chicken Bucket
- Braundorf
- Tower
- Glider

So of course everyone votes braundorf again guised into thinking were running some sort of democracy.

My Suggestion:

Keep the maps limited - I like that idea - but maybe since theres fewer now just have the entire voteable map list come up everytime. Then if your doing things like Map of the week it has more chances to be experienced. Just my 2 cents, i'm not here to tell how to run your server, or here to bitch as I really love the server. just thought you might like some feedback and judging by the comments on TS I don't think I'm alone in my thinking from the first paragraph.

P.S was really hoping you might consider swapping out Goldrush -GAY for either Goldrush(stock) or sw_Goldrush?

I think the pool needs to have more maps in it after each map. Lots of stinkers that nobody wanted to vote kind of pigeon-holed us into Adler, supply, frost, and the stocks.

Goldrush_GA has only been on since friday. I will take it down today. I put alternate versions of the stocks up every once-in-a-while just for variety. Several people were very vocal about their hatred for that map when it came on friday, but a lot of people like that map so its impossible to make everyone happy.

Two different people, two different ideas of how the maps should appear. So you can see how hard it is to try and find a happy medium here. I try and fix something for one suggestion only to get feedback from people on the other side. As you stated Ex6, there are times when having a map like Tower makes sense. 1v1s, 2v2s when the night is young and we're waiting to get people to join. Now yeah, 8v8 we should NEVER vote for that map.

I think there are some ways to configure certain maps based on the number of players. Maybe I could research this a bit and have those maps like chicken and tower only appear when there are 8 or less players?

Anyway, as I was saying - to get more "popular" maps on there, I could add a few more of the more "popular" customs to the standard pool:

dubrovnik
bremen
ET Beach
TC Base

Another problem - I have these maps and then people complain that its the "wrong version". So if there are BETTER versions, please send them to me. I am fine with our maps so I'm not going to spend my time hunting down some _b3 version instead of the _b2 we presently have. Know what I mean Smile ?

* "popular" maps --- I say that, but that is my opinion of what the popular maps are. But there are people who hate some of them too, so again, impossible to make a perfect configuration that everyone loves.

I would definitely second this. If you can, please look around and see if this is really an option. I love playing Tower but I hate it when the server is on and poppin' and then Tower gets voted and half the people leave.

Not that I'm trying to defend Gold Rush -GA but what exactly is so wrong with it? I seem to enjoy it just as much as stock Gold Rush. Maybe I'm not aware of all of the changes?

The creator of this version created it specifically for servers carrying 40+ people and felt that when the numbers are that high goldrush is too difficult for the allied team. Skipping my opinion on all that what i dislike about the version is all the extra corridors and ledges uptop the map, especially by the gold. The crossfire on axis is just too nuts.

But whatever its not really a big deal I just wanted to put that out there and was hoping the majority would side with me.

BTW I added more maps this week, and am trying a default map config to hide small maps when over 8 players. We can see how that works.

I dont like tower, its nothing but a panzer frag fest. It would be nice if you could dissable heavy weapons, art, etc. and leave it to just snipers and SMG. The i woul dlike it more.
