Hey I'm trying to update my network thingy but i cant get a working driver. My driver for my Network card is from 2003, so I need an update.

I have this...

3Com Gigabit LOM (3C940)

I've searched high and low for an update and found only one, but it has no installtion/setup in it.

<-------Computer noob sorry

-Wait for Beck or Nort to answer this post cause they know the most out of everyone and will be able to help you the most. However, a suggestion from me is if u can't find an update on the net then maybe try on limewire...but be careful, lots of viruses and shit.

I did, didn't really get much. Only thing I've been able to download was a .zip that didn't include an installtion, just the folder 3com and stuff in it.

A lot of driver updates don't come with installers.

Here's what you do. Extract the .zip to a folder somewhere, say c:\patch.

Now go into Device Manager -- 'Start | Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager'. Open properties for your network card, click the 'Driver' tab and then the 'Update Driver' button. Click through the wizard until you get to 'Install from specific location". Browse to your c:\patch location, and if it's the proper driver update, it should find it and allow you to apply it.

GL - hope it works.

Yikes! You might try and rollback the driver (same dialog) to see if the patch f'd things up.
