Subject:  Connecting to server
Last night I heard Anto could not connect to server and a few others had a small issue also. I ask her last night what error code or what does it say. I was told it was waiting to connect. Today I ask her to post the issue but she said its all good now.

Are these just little glitches of people's computers losing connection during connecting or something else?

Could have been a DNS issue or something?

I would suggest if this happens to try and ping the server:

ping iowclan.net

and

ping 50.97.113.108

It has been happening to a few people of the past week.

For example, Sum1 had the same problem. He said he could connect to other servers but not IOW. Cleared up the next day I believe.

well the server had been running since monday (restarts every monday) with no configuration changes or restarts. Not sure why some people can and others can't connect, but like I said it could be some outage somewhere that is affecting basic routing? I'm no networking expert. But the server configuration has not changed, nor anything with the hosting company that I'm aware of so I have no clue as to why this would be happening.

Everytime it's happened to me, I restart my modem, get a new IP, and I can connect again.

It's not a DNS issue, I can ping and tracert both the domain name and the IP and even the ET client correctly resolves the domain if you look in the console. Vick had this happen a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure if it's something with our server specifically. Vick mentioned that if you look at the server list and open the console it tells you how many servers were loaded and how many weren't shown. I had right around 203 that weren't shown because it said due to my filters, but I didn't have any filters active, so it's something with the client I must presume. This issue happens both on ET.exe and Legacy.

I tried basically everything that I could think of, including restarting my modem and router, but no luck. The next day it just worked. For whatever reason the client isn't handshaking with the server correctly, but not all servers, just some. (I don't know which other ones to even try since they weren't in the server list, so I couldn't see if the ones that were supposedly filtered out had the same issue)
