Those of you who play on IoW frequently and are on TS with me, you'll know that I hate Wi-Fi and it makes me spike like a motherfucker (courtesy of the 5GHz band sucking the big one, I would imagine). So whenever I'm going for an extended play session, I have to throw a long-ass ethernet cable across my living room, which is not ideal. Here's my solution!

Why don't you use power line adapters, little expense for a lot less hassle

seeing how close the rooms are, it could work decently for $40/$50
or a moca bridge if there are co-ax outlets available and near for even better stability

From what I've read and heard, those HomePlug devices are not that great. I'd rather not compromise and just use ethernet. Gigabit for the win.

I don't know if the technology has gotten any better with powerline, but I remember when I tried it out, if anyone in the apartment or house used the microwave or started vacuuming, the connection just turned to piss. It was also impossible to watch netflix through one of those for some reason, it just never wanted to keep buffering.

I don't think the technology can evolve that much in this case.
You have to try it in your house to know if it's going to work decently or not, there is hardly a general rule (I could stream netflix in HD in my previous house using 200mbps netgear adapters). It's just very easy to get noise in the signal depending on the actual wiring.

the new TP-Link adapters are much more reliable, been using mine a while now no interference.
also unlike the old ones you can connect them anywhere in the house as long its in the same fuse box.

Not bad at all. Maybe I should look into that then. If it doesn't work out for me I can always return it. Got a model number for the equipment?
