Well I was updating my BIOS in my machine the other day when my CPU failed during the flash. So looks like I won't be playing for a while. (putting this out on my laptop.)

u are making me just want to get the mobo for shits and giggles.
but i would also need to upgraded my processor at that point.. anywho. both these look awesome so good on you! :D
Subject: Re: My Machine died
I'm actually really excited to get the new chip mainly because it's the premium model of the chip that's the step up from the one I had before. What I had before.
Subject:
holy shit u making me feel like i got a relic in there!!!
im still stuck with 45nm chip :S but thats what you get with intel :D they dont stop working ;)
Subject: Re: My Machine died
Dad runs a duo core out of a 775 socket. his machine runs rather pathetic. (mine more so right now because I broke it)
wish list Graphics card I was saving up for to replace my GTX550 with.
Subject:
the evga version of that card is exactly what i got when my old geforce gts 250 burned out :D
the gtx660 is VERY nice. even with my archaic processor, i am able to play current games with low to medium settings.
Subject:
duke it seems like your PCs are always taking dumps.
Subject: Re: My Machine died
I most certainly know how to kill PCs now don't I sin.
But overall most of the time I can fix it myself. (this one not so cheaply)
Subject: Re: My Machine died
processor's ordered should have it by Friday/Saturday :D
Subject: Re: My Machine died
Chip comes in today. so excited 8)
note: opening my machine I haven't cleaned it for the better part of a month Dust screens FTW! didn't need to clean anything. other note: when I took apart dad's computer watched dust cloud billow out of case. he no clean his either :smt030 but he has no screens or case fans of any sort. (Fans= Power supply, Video card, CPU)
Subject:
looking forward to seeing you back in full action!
Subject: Re: My Machine died
Chip is In MoBo no post, did Asus trouble shoot still nothing. gotta go to professionals (not geek squad like small computer repair stores with walls lined with certifications/degrees/achievements) get the Biggest eggheads working on it. (sad day at dukes house) :(
Subject:
i hope you didnt fry it by not putting thermal paste on it before pressing down the heat sink...
processors fry within seconds of start-up with no paste.... if you did everything by the books (didnt break any hardware), i think you should not have much to worry about. 1. you either got a faulty part from the manufacturer 2. some part not compatible with some other part (since you got a new mobo and cpu, the old stuff might not like the new mobo) either case, you can send in the part for a working replacement.
Subject:
I just applied a new heatsink to my cpu. Managed to pull the CPU out with the old heat sink without detaching the CPU lock...Pulled out the whole thing. Bent one outside pin. Credit card'd it back into place. New heatsink is giant, and works like a charm.
Subject: Re: My Machine died
nice. well irony has it my machine needed a BIOS chip. cheap "easy" tech fix. problem. They ordered the wrong BIOS chip. should still be end of the week when I get it back. (with any luck).
good news: got my car back and it looks like I might be getting a job with Jester finally. (well same company different departments.) potential really good news: if said job comes, I get to save money and fuel by being able to ride my bike to work. :P Page 1 of 2
