I just got in, clicked Getting Started and loaded the map. After it was loading, I couldnt do anything but move around and zoom in and out. WTF

oh yeah, the tutorial thing right? I had the same thing happen to me. WHen I first played it, loaded up like West Coast server and played through most of the demo level. Then went back to work. That night I was having all the problems that resulted in my post above. And for some reason, it even started me back over at the beginning and made me do the tutorial thing again. But it never advanced, you load it up, you can move around but there isn't any walkthrough. Same fail you are having.

All I did was switch to a different server (probably back to WEst Coast) and it seemed to remember who I was and I was able to play then. Actually, since then I haven't had any problems, but I already have a region and city claimed. That seems to be the difficult part.

Looks like SimCity was a TOTAL flop. I still hope they get all this ironed out within the month.

Actually, after all of that I said about it, I haven't really had any problems to speak of. I have two regions started, one with my kids and both of my oldest boys have already started and played their first city.

Annoying, sure. I get "server unavailable" messages frequently, and sometimes you have to click things a few times before they start working - but I've put in over 10 hours on the game so far and I'm very happy with it despite my earlier hatred. The game is actually pretty damn good once you get past all the bullshit. But I know, getting past the bullshit is the hard part.

Once you are actually into your city, everything is fine. You can play, I've had no performance issues or anything bad, crashes or loss of data. One thing that's kind of annoying is that the region stuff doesn't work well immediately. For example, I had one town that was supposed to be getting the trash from the other town, but that didn't start working until today after I closed down the game and let the server do whatever the hell it does with this shit.

If anything -- this experience will show the consumer and producer that this model for gaming is shit and maybe they won't attempt to do it again.

I never see you online, and when I try to 'join game' it always disconnects and reconnects and says failed attempt try again.

Did you add me as a friend yet? I didn't see anything like that.

I know it sucks man, that is why I wrote my first post. I was boiling mad and had to keep my shit together because my kids were sitting next to me while all this was happening. Soon as they left the room I unleashed here on the forums LOL.

It seems as once you're lucky enough to claim a region (i'm doing private regions) and claim a city that things start working better. Since then, I rarely have any problems.

I will probably getting Dead Space 3. I already have BF3, and have played through ME3. NFS just looks like poop. I own the new Medal of Honor but not Warfighter...didn't like the new MoH, tried to hard to be battlefield.
