Instruments of WarWolf ET Chatbearcat*'s crosshair/color problem

#1:  bearcat*'s crosshair/color problem Author: bearcat* Post You have posted in this forum: Tue Feb 07, 2017 9:39 am

Few nights ago on ts I ask a question about crosshair color. I said I use red and in dark backgrounds I lose the crosshair. A few laughed so I wanted to show you guys and maybe you can help me.

crosshair on the ground near the last post.

crosshair is in the sky somewhere. This is where I was laughed at. I was told red shows up good on dark backgrounds.

Even not pointing in the sky I can lose the crosshair

I have a toggle with a few pre-defined crosshair styles to avoid that (green/red & dot/cross + size variations) if you're interested

Code: › //---[ crosshair toggle ]---//
bind KP_SLASH "vstr CH_toggle"
//small green dot
set crosshair1 "cg_drawCrosshair 5;cg_crosshairSize 38;cg_crosshairColor green; set CH_toggle vstr crosshair2; Echo Crosshair: Small Green Dot selected"
//small green cross/+
set crosshair2 "cg_drawCrosshair 10;cg_crosshairSize 38;cg_crosshairColor green; set CH_toggle vstr crosshair3; Echo Crosshair: Small Green + selected"
//small green open +
set crosshair3 "cg_drawCrosshair 9;cg_crosshairSize 38;cg_crosshairColor green; set CH_toggle vstr crosshair4; Echo Crosshair: Small Green Open + selected"
//red dot
set crosshair4 "cg_drawCrosshair 5;cg_crosshairSize 38;cg_crosshairColor red; set CH_toggle vstr crosshair5; Echo Crosshair: Small Red Dot selected"
//medium green dot
set crosshair5 "cg_drawCrosshair 5;cg_crosshairSize 48;cg_crosshairColor green; set CH_toggle vstr crosshair1; Echo Crosshair: Medium Green Dot selected"
set CH_toggle "vstr crosshair1"

Your crosshair is probably a little bit too small. When it's too small, the color selected isn't as vibrant as it should be. (I use green for the dot in my crosshair. It should be bright green like the global chat, but if I set it too small the color gets darker & much harder to spot)

I agree with Allagor, try using a larger dot. I use red also and found I needed to go to a larger dot. The tiny dot just gets lost.

Bigger crosshair should do the trick, I use red myself on a 13 inch screen and the size is at 60-70 or something. You could also play around with your brightness settings for more contrast. Allagors green dot would work well with how dark your screen looks, or teal/white.

Hi, first post for me and thanks for running a great server.

I use several things to manage crosshair size and color automatically. This helps prevent me from "losing" it during movement in various backgrounds and lighting.

My crosshair changes color depending on strafe movements -

bind x "+moveleft; cg_crosshaircolor red"
bind x "+moveright; cg_crosshaircolor green'

My crosshair changes size depending on whether I'm sprinting or squatting.

bind x "+sprint; cg_crosshairsize 80"
bind x "+movedown; cg_crosshairsize 37"

Like they all said, make it bigger. I use a red dot. I used to use just the dot but I added a bit to it, I'll take a screenshot when I remember to.
