In honor of the most successful thread in IoW's history:

http://www.iowclan.net/iow/viewtopic.php?t=2984

This thread will be about posting other games you're playing, besides ET. The frequency of updates may not be as quick, but I know that I play a lot of other games on various systems when I'm not fragging it up on ET.

POSTING FORMAT:

Arrow Game - System

For example:

Arrow Sim City 4 - PC
Arrow Excitebike World Tour - Wii

--- those are the other games I'm playing on the side.

#2:  Re: What else are you playing? Author: sum1else Post You have posted in this forum: Mon Nov 23, 2009 9:14 am

Arrow Wolfenstein - PC
Arrow Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - Xbox 360
Arrow Seven Kingdoms - PC (Old ass game right there, back from the Win 98, maybe even 95 days)
Arrow Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest Expansion - PC
Arrow RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 - PC
Arrow Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - GBA

I haven't played Oblivion for the past few weeks, and have started playing Wolfenstein over Seven Kingdoms. EE:AoC and RCT2 don't get that much playing time. Most of my gaming time is devoted to playing ET.

Hows world 2 these days? Is it as pointless as world 3? In W3 we have many inactive players leaving seas of barbarians, wars that can not be won, etc. But damn I can not quit. 3 years of effort [or should I say wasted time] so far...

Since I had never played CoD online, and I had CoD World at War for almost nothing, I loaded it up. Graphics are awesome, the system for levelling up is awesome as well. I didn't realize I should create my own class to take advantage of all the "perks", so I was breaking even going against people at level 4,231 or something, with me not knowing the maps. It might be a little more interesting now, but the shooting SUCKS!

I do like that it's more realistic with how many shots it takes, but the spawning at different locations seems random. Overall it has potential, but the hitboxes, firing of the weapons, "smoothness" totally sucks compared to ET.

The reason UT has always been successful is because ever since the first UT, they haven't really messed with the gameplay. They all feel the same. I wish more game companies would grow smarter like this than release garbage for sequels to their games.

GH3 for PC

Barely got it this week and it has a great selection of music. I especially love the Spanish Rock song it has for the bonus(Heroes Del Silencio-Avalancha) i went to see them back in 95-96 when they had their last full tour.I wish I could remember more than I do,but I was wasted that night and its all a blur now.

I have mostly all songs 5 star on easy and medium, but the Hard is to hard right now.My fingers are still to slow to reach the orange and the green. 8(

#42:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Dec 04, 2009 10:52 am

That's the big challenge with GH! LOL. I move my entire hand when I need oranges, which means you have to adjust all the rest of your fingerings for the other buttons. My bro-in-law just reaches for it. Keep practicing, you'll get it.

I've never got more than 3 stars on fricken Heart: Barracuda because I cannot play that damned rhythm without screwing the pooch Sad.

I almost always play Hard, but I've been working through on GH4 on Expert. It'll tell you one thing - if you're ever having a problem beating a song on one level, play some songs on one level higher, you will get used to the speed and it makes a world of difference. I managed to beat some songs on hard that I kept getting booed off stage for, just by warming up on Expert for a few songs.

#43:   Author: zupadupa Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Dec 04, 2009 12:18 pm

UT3 died for me since it was all buggy and not finished before it was released. I was a fool and rushed out to buy it when it came out only to find that I didn't like it at all. UT99 was probably the best... mind you I never played the original Unreals... I heard that they were great games.

Modern Warfare 2 looks sweet, but I wonder what sort of beast you need to be able to run it.

Supreme Ruler 2020 - if you are a axis and allies fan from back in the days of board games. You may want to check this one out. Its a very high level war game so to say. Managing economy, alliances, and military. Has different scenarios or free for all.

Myself i started with iowa and the states had all broken down to their own rulers.

Been playing it for awhile now and have now taken all of north america, excluding highway - but do have all of canda in exchanged. have unified all of central america, and close to claiming all of south america. All under the great country of IOWA!!!! lol.

Soon i shall load up my transports and boat troops overseas to start on africa or europe.....

Command and Conquer- the First Decade

anyone else have this game? I keep getting an error code and I have searched for a way to fix it. turns out the game itself is bugged and there are alot of people that have had this problem. I have a couple of fixes that I tried already and they didn't work. Just wondering if anyone went thru this already.

#92:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Feb 19, 2010 2:06 pm

Yes I have, couldn't resist. Though I suck at drums, I have a hard enough time with Medium on them. We only played it one night, we'll get back to it after we beat Band Hero.

And oh yeah, it's a great game. But.....be prepared to cough up some major change to buy the albums online - shit, I already bought all the CDs 15 years ago, now I have to fricken buy them again to play in Rock Band?

Also - this is my first time playing Rock Band - always been a GH guy. Rock Band is more unforgiving then GH is, I've found. You cannot be early or late on the notes or you miss them in RB. I did calibrate my controllers too, in case you're wondering.

#93:   Author: StEVoNuB420 Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Feb 19, 2010 3:30 pm

I calibrated them and I found that i'm alot better with default on. O's on both settings.

Yea the songs are 200 Wii points. the thing with that is some of the songs available arent really compatible with all the instruments. I will get them soon,in the next few weeks but i'll just be geting the ones I really like.

#94:   Author: allagor Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:51 pm

I've been having quite a lot of fun screwing with people in Modern Warfare 2. I'm a beast with the tac insert, I can effectively use it like a force multiplier. I also pick off the enemy snipers from across the map with my iron sights (insult kills ftw). And what's really fun, is to run around with the RPD-extended mags. you usually end up dying before you have to reload it (200 shots, and only takes around 3 to kill someone)

downside to the game:
repeatedly getting dropped into games on the losing team, with only a few seconds left in the game.
no option to mute everyone at once. I hate listening to all the morons & 3 year olds, and I have to mute them one by one.

Gosh, I remember that game beck, I had a lot of fun playing it. People were just too good online so I stopped playing.

#98:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Tue Feb 23, 2010 2:49 pm

I have never played it online. I can hardly beat the damn AI (most of the time I get rolled) just playing skirmishes. I know playing online would make me better, but I'm too afraid LOL. I'm much more of a defensive player, so I like to establish an almost self-sufficient defense before I go on the attack, which is usually bad in this type of game.

#99:   Author: StEVoNuB420 Post You have posted in this forum: Tue Feb 23, 2010 5:33 pm

Yea just like C& C Generals. I tried it online and I was getting raped within 5 minutes. It's insane how good some ppl are on those type of things.

#100:   Author: Sin Post You have posted in this forum: Tue Feb 23, 2010 5:46 pm

In probably ever other type of RTS game online, rushing is the easiest way to win. Generals was a game of rushing.

At first, CoH was the same, everbody just rushed, but after awhile, people started defending and kicking peoples ass. Its pretty easy to set up a fast defense in hat game, easier than a fast offense. So by the time I quit, games were a fucking workout, some would be over an hour long, they turned into turtles and it got gay. Most of my losses were to people just waiting me out, I couldn't stand the ceasefire so I would suicide all my guys trying to make a dent. But maybe they fixed all that with the expansion.

#101:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Tue Feb 23, 2010 7:45 pm

Dunno. I will say, if you ever break out the game, be prepared for about 150MB or more of fricken patch downloads - no choice in that matter. It automatically forces you to DL them when you launch the game, probably to keep online matches fair (fixing hax and holes in the code).

I would try and be a good defender. A single MG team in the right place can be devastating to infantry - until a tank comes along and then you're fucked. I guess I just like setting up these "auto defenses" around bridges and things, natural choke-points on the map and just watch wave after wave of AI attack just get annihilated. Impossible to do that against a good human player, they'll find a way to flank your defenses, so you constantly have to be on your toes.

Anyway - the SP missions are actually pretty good and fun on their own, I still enjoy playing those.

#102:   Author: Sin Post You have posted in this forum: Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:57 pm

I have the original game with Opposing fronts, maybe we can play a match sometime. It could be us two vs two AI.

#103:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Wed Feb 24, 2010 8:29 am

I have the "Gold Edition", not sure what that includes - but I have the Panzer Elite add-on. There's a new one too that I don't have, don't remember what it's called.

Team-up....maybe that sounds like a better option LOL. Wonder if we share the same resource pool and command points?

#104:   Author: Sin Post You have posted in this forum: Wed Feb 24, 2010 9:30 am

I think the gold edition is the regular game and Opposing fronts.

We each would have our own pool and points Im sure.

I bought ET QW for 3 (not a typo)dollars last week at Half Pricew Bookstore, and it was brand spanking new. Still had the wrapper around it and everything.

The game itsel fi ok. Still have to get used to it though. Its alot of stuff to voer. The vehicles are pretty cool, but then u get the people that run to the vehicles and stay in then for as long as they can. graphics are good, and the controls are basically the same, with some changes to the oice chat.

So it's an alright game, but def not a replacement for Wolf ET. Still love the gameplay the original has to offer.

Not currently playing it - but occasionally i like to load up those "pirate games" where you take your ship around and raid colonies, other ships, etc... then build your own colonly with the gains....

#118:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Wed May 05, 2010 10:26 am

--- that's an aspect of this game, sure. But mostly it's about building a colony, doing production chains and trade. It can be pretty hard to actually reach the highest level of citizens, providing all the stuff they demand to reach higher caste levels. But really, I honestly love loading up ships with goods and sailing them around to other ports just to make money on trading. Thumbs Up

I was on the verge of buying D3, but it should have been named Diablo Again. about 85% of your actions are simple left click/right click... leaves much to be desired in my opinion. But I guess any time you create a game with the target market of age 6-40 it's bound to be a pretty forgiving game.

Hey you cannot rightfully hate on like a 12 year old game that they wanted to bring back and revamp into a modern game. It has a ton of interest for some of the older gen gamers because that was the World of Warcraft of the day. It also has a lot of new ideas thanks to WoW, and other MMO's. I think the game will be very similar to the old game for authentication but new in ways that if you were to just look at the cover you would only see a new box and graphics. I believe the story line is going to be very interesting and very fufilling as a solo/team play like they used to have it but im not so sure about the end game where youve killed everything your gear is boss, they never had a solution for that in the older game. The PvP aspect of the game looks a little rough/fun but i forsee that as a way to keep interest in the game, and a very short term fix that is. But overall i am really excited to see the whole game i think im going to play it till i passout that night. See how far i can get in one night.

Unless you count the 'Stories' side-games, there's only 3 GTA games for the PS2...so I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that the three games you have are:

Grand Theft Auto III
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Also if memory serves, Crash Bandicoot: Warped was for the PS1, not the PS2.

Which Super Mario game do you have for the SNES? Super Mario World or Super Mario All-Stars? Or do you have the one that combines them both?

What did you think of Donkey Kong Country 2? I never actually got to play that one sadly. Was it good?

You like Street Figther?! You're cooler than I thought lol. Now this is an important question, are you a main series fan or an Alpha fan? Which one did you own for the SNES? Street Fighter Alpha 2 or one of the versions of Street Fighter II?

The orginal is better with donkey kong sadly we lost it so i can't play it Sad .Super mario world sounds about right. I believe i own street fighter 2. I cant look at it so i dont know for sure.

Rust - Mac/Windows/Linux

You spawn as a naked caveman with a rock, and your flaccid uncut dong feeling the breeze. There are other naked cavemen hiding amongst the trees, rocks, and dilapidated buildings. Some may be friends, you can admire their family jewels & happy trail. Most will likely try to smash your head in with a rock for looking at their unclothed body. Eventually, you find an old pair of pants in a run down irradiated town. Finally, you are decent, and can be seen in public. Now you happily skip down the road showing off those new pants! *BANG* *BANG* ................... "Some fgt killed you with a 9mm to the head"

Civilization 5 is a grand strategy game winnie. You control a civilization that is just starting out, think the stone age. You progress through the years with this one civilization, your in charge of advancing it. Teaching them new technologies, building more structures for them, churches, schools, barracks. You have to keep your civilization safe, so you have to have an army to fight off the enemies. If you play the game long enough, you'll go from having your villagers throw spears and shooting bows and arrows, to driving tanks and launching ballistic missiles. It takes awhile to get to that point though. And that's even if you stay alive. There are usually 10+ other generals just like you in the game, and that brings up another aspect of the game with politics. You can actually win the game now without fighting people. Its called a cultural victory.

I think its a great game. Every new match I start usually is pretty different than the last. Some matches can be really long though, we're talking 20-30 hours long sometimes. So.....play it at your own risk.

I'm playing for the cultural win now actually. I'm playing as the French this time (you like that Sir?). Its really addicting, I've even got one of my sons hooked on it now, he wants to play it all the damn time.

Here are some screenies winnie:

Spoilers:

You start the game with a warrior and a settler. You have to explore and discover the entire planet, find other peoples (AI civs) and discover resources such as metals for mining, food for harvesting or animals you can hunt or domesticate for your own needs. So you build workers to build roads between your cities, build improvements (e.g. a mine to get to that gold reserve), all while researching new technologies to improve your cities and the units you build. You can even build "wonders" in your cities, such as the pyramids of giza (I have the "Great Pyramid of Paris" right now Razz). But yeah, its really fun to build a big army and start sacking cities, which I did in my last game playing as the Germans (go figure). But I wanted a different challenge this time, so I'm just trying to get as much culture as I can. Next I'm going to try and do the apollo program and get the tech win.

It really is a fantastic game, but you have to be willing to sit down and get sucked into it for hours upon hours. Its really have to quit playing.

#258:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Mon Jan 05, 2015 1:34 pm

I wouldn't call it an expansion necessarily. The mechanics of the game are very similar. The graphics and gameplay are basically the same, so from the respect it could be interpreted that way. But it took me a bit to get used to playing a futuristic based game with entirely new techs, resources and units. There is a learning curve to the basics of the game for even an experienced civ player. But basically the game is the same. You build colonists (settlers), found new outposts (cities), build units, perform research (although it's not a linear loose tree like prior Civs - its an entirely new web-based thing where you can really focus on specific branches, neglecting others). Gold from Civ is now Energy. There is no happiness, it's now health. There is still culture and food. Instead of barbarians, there are aliens which in the early part of the game can be pretty formidable. The upgrade system for units is totally awesome though. You don't have to pay to upgrade, your units just automatically progress as you add new affinity levels. And they are really badass, there are some really really sweet units. Probably one of the coolest things is that there is sort of a loose storyline that goes with the game. You get prompts to make choices all the time that will affect buildings and other things, so you can really specialize on particular attributes depending on your intended victory type. So for example, you get asked if you want to improve production for a certain building and can choose +1 energy or +1 production. Things like that. Also, when your units upgrade, you can pick between two bonuses, like +30% attack or +5 health per turn. Kind of like in regular Civ when you get an XP upgrade, you can pick certain attributes to improve. But this improves all the units, even though already built and deployed. There is still a veternacy system for units based on XP. There is also a better focus on covert ops in this game. You can assign them to cities much easier and quickly than you could with the old civ games, and have them do missions to steal science or energy, or at certain levels even sabotage and force coups and stuff.

Currently I have been spending a lot of time on Majesty 2 and its add on expansions. I have a few missions to complete in kingdom of ardania and then i can work on the monsters expansion. Following that i have several other games stocked up. I bought a lot on the steam sale as my 2015 goals are to pay down some bills, which means staying home more so i spend less

It's a solid game, it's just not as compelling to some people as the other Civs because it doesn't have to cool 'based on history' aspect to it.

I've been playing Cities: Skylines. If any of you have ever been a fan of the city building sims in the past, GET THIS GAME. This is the best city building sim I've ever played. I've been playing the piss out of it every chance i get since it came out a few days ago. It's the first game in a great long while that I have had to forcefully stop myself from playing because I needed to do other things. It's just perfect. Brings back the good old days of the first few Simcitys. And one of the great things about this game, is that its cheap. It released only a few days for the price of 29.99. It's everything that the newer Simcity 2013 should of been, but the shit the bed on.

Here's a trailer for the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVhYSyVbGBs

Damn. Gotta stay at my desk for a few minutes to wait for my boner to go away. I'll be checking this out for sure.

EDIT: Watching a YouTube - this is STRIKINGLY similar to the new Sim City. Almost an exact copy so far....

They took all of the good things from the new SimCity for sure, the game is absolutely amazing if you are even remotely interested in the genre, trust me. And its not super easy like SimCity was. Your first few cities will suck, hard. It's incredibly fun to envision a city before you even start building it, and then actually be able to build what you imagined. Unlike SimCity, where you get a tiny little plot of land to make a city on. The game is just what everyone who was disappointed by SimCity were waiting for.

Just something about working on your traffic flow for 3 hours straight, and then finally getting it right, looking how you wanted it to all along, its just awesome.

#271:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Mar 13, 2015 11:28 pm

yeah I've loved sim city since the 90's, and even liked the new one for the most part.

Does it have production chains like SC does? I kinda liked that aspect of SC where you have to build up alloys and rubber and shit like that to get the most advanced buildings. I'd hvae entire cities that were just mining cities cranking out a shit ton of trade, that's kinda how I always liked to play sc

#272:   Author: Sin Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Mar 13, 2015 11:50 pm

Yes, it does. You can have specialized districts within your city for that very thing.

Heres a reddit thread where people are discussing it. Along with a picture thats linked at the top.

I'm getting back into StarCraft and I also played a bit of Alien Swarm with allagor. It's pretty great, except for he's so OP that he just rolls through maps and you just follow along lol. Also, being allagor, he knows all the glitches. O_O

Kroc's been playing The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on Dolphin, and I'd like to take credit for that since I helped him out with setting it up and such.

Alien Swarm - Free game, co-op gameplay. Maybe I should bump the difficulty up &/or play peace medic next time. That being said, you either run or die in this game.

Survarium - F2P, I haven't paid a damn thing and do just fine with 160-180 ping. Steam release + North America based server April 2nd. Still just 3 Team PvP game modes (Battery, TDM, "research"/domination).

I've been playing Dirty Bomb lately. It's starting to get really addicting. Objective based gameplay is pretty hard to come by these days. It's pretty nostalgic escorting a tank through an abandoned town again Very Happy.

I've been playing with Raider and some of his "friends". Lots of guys from the old Deathtouch guys. Its pretty humbling playing an FPS against some of those guys, but I learn alot faster getting raped by them than I do raping noobs on some random server.

Yeah First person mode and way better graphics. Also WAY faster loading times if you put the game on an SSD. Also mod support of course. GTA games always get modded like crazy. Plus there's that new make a movie feature or whatever it's called. Some people have put up some pretty awesome fan movies already. Did the console version get updated to include that?

Destiny 2 sucks until end game content, but then it's quite fun. A few of us have it now

#311:   Author: Sin Post You have posted in this forum: Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:02 pm

I'm totally down for some R6 siege sometime. That game is a lot of fun. Coming from DB and ET you have to change your playstyle though, but it's quite rewarding if you stick to it. It takes ultra focus and patience, every single movement you make in the game leaves a sound for the enemy to hear. Yeah it has low TTK but it's more of a cat and mouse fight than a straight up gunfight, so the fights sometimes take awhile.

#312:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Nov 30, 2018 1:23 pm

#314:   Author: BECK Post You have posted in this forum: Fri Nov 30, 2018 5:23 pm

It's not cross platform. And actually, I don't feel that I play as well as I expected I would. But it makes it easier for me because I suck with the controller. I guess I'm marginally better on kb+mouse. The worst is that I try and do BF2 shit in ET Laughing But there is a weapon in BF2 called 'Barrage' that is basically the Riflenade, has the exact same feel and physics, so I pretty much own with that. And no one uses it.

Well I wouldn't buy Metro Exodus full price anyway, I was going to wait for it to be $15 or even $10 so that might be next year when it gets on Steam. I wonder if the bigger cut to developers from the Epic Store will make up for the drop in sales (because I'm sure there will be one) unless Epic is also forking out $$ since it's a marketing operation to drag people to their platform.
