With the pending arrival of a new sound pack (hopefully this week), I wanted to rework some of the commands to make it easier to find sounds. For some of the lower ranked people, you may only have 30 sounds to deal with. The higher up you go, there are well over 200 of them to deal with. !listsounds is pretty much useless when there are that many to look through.

To help with this, a new command was created:

[listsoundcats]

For "list sound categories"

What it does is list the 22 types of sounds that we have, related to various gaming events - such as 'rage', 'gtfo', 'greetings', 'mapwin' etc....etc...

Spoilers:

  1. Misc.
  2. greetings
  3. goodbyes
  4. rage
  5. taunts
  6. win
  7. lose
  8. fail
  9. achievement
  10. insults
  11. class
  12. drugs
  13. self
  14. orders
  15. team
  16. status
  17. wtf
  18. comebacks
  19. pep
  20. gtfo
  21. hax
  22. cranky

Try out the command and I think you'll see what I mean.

[listsounds]

This command works as always - showing you the sounds that you have for your current shrubbot level. But now you can pass a parameter to this command -- one of the categories from listsoundcats to see specific sounds that meet that category.

For example:

Code: ›
!listsounds rage

Will display only sounds that are tagged as rage. In addition to a smaller list, you also see the text of what the sound is so you can pick exactly what you want to say.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS

I'm also going to add the ability to pass a number into listsounds. The number represents a shrubbot level. Only sounds assigned to that shrubbot level will be shown.

For example:

Code: ›
!listsounds 31

Will show me the sounds that are only available for level 31.

The next thing I'm going to work on is making sound play even easier, by creating commands for most of the categories. Upon running the command, one of the related sounds will be picked at random and played.

For example:

Code: ›
!rage

Will play one of the rage sounds that I have access to.

Code: ›
!hello

Will play one of the greeting sounds that I have access to.

We all told you this the other day when you came on to test this command out but it bears repeating: The way that command outputs stuff looks very clean and elegant, same with when you do stuff like !listsounds rage.

I love the idea of showing sounds for a specific level, I think that could be insightful at times.

Also I can't wait for you to make the random play script, that should give less-used sounds some play (pun not intended)

listsounds will now accept a number argument.

Code: ›
!listsounds 1

That will show ONLY those sounds gained at level 1.

Code: ›
!listsounds 10

Again, only showing sounds available for level 10.

This will help to introduce new sounds to you as you gain new admin levels.

NOTE: you will not be able to see sounds for levels higher than your current level.

In addition, the other argument to listsounds (a category tag) when output will show the level in yellow where that sound is available. So now, if someone wants to know when they'll get a particular sound, that information can be found.

...next up: simple sound commands!

I'm thinking of these:

Code: ›
!rage
!hello
!goodbye
!stfu
!win
!lose

So you execute one of those commands, it will pick a sound at random from that category and play it.

that was his intention, actually. but the system doesn't work that way. I'll have to fix it to allow that.

oh....and now available:

!hello !goodbye !rage !wtf !taunt !win !lose

Give 'um a try Wink
