I guess I should post some pics too. Took a while to find these, I realize now that I have too many computers.
Last summer: Around 3 years ago: More of the same: I had actual modelling pics up on uwaterloo.ca, but they keep re-using them so I don't know where I show up this year :P

How much did u pay for the drum kit? Whats the brand?
Subject: Re: The NEW and IMPROVED self picture topic
University of Waterloo, eh? All the smart kids go there, and all the cool ones go across the street to WLU ;)
Subject: Re: The NEW and IMPROVED self picture topic
@fuzzy: the *really* cool kids go to Waterloo for 2 years, flunk out and move on :P
@stevo: It's a Roland V-series TD-3, I paid $1300+160 shipping (ebay). They are awesome and I can carry them with one arm when they are folded (only takes a minute to set up/tear down too). Very highly recommended if you are looking at an electric kit. I do miss the number of drums and physical impact of acoustics, though, because I sold my acoustic kit a few years ago when I was broke :( drums as of a couple days ago: and my helis :D

I was looking at a nice electric drum set, just because a real set would be too noisy for the house, and it takes up much more room. I assume you can connect your MP3 player and headphones to it and play it?
At least I know what to ask Santa for!!!!

Yup. There is a minipin (headphone) in and out. It also has full MIDI in/out, and you can get a $70 adaptor/cable that will let you record the triggers directly into something like GarageBand so you can edit and change the sound after the fact. The "brain" comes with 32 pre-defined kits that you can edit, and the drum sounds are really authentic. It sounds excellent over a keyboard-style amp or PA system provided it can handle the kick (it tends to overdrive midrange speakers).
It's a nice kit, although I could use an extra tom and cymbal (or three). It does make noise, but it's only a problem if you live in an apartment where the average age is above 70 (like my fogey apartment here). When I get an acoustic kit again (once I have a house in the middle of nowhere), I am going to build one custom like this: Page 14 of 25
