No problems with my NIC drivers, and my TCP/IP settings are working fine, haven't had much reason to alter them since I bought my computer. My router and cable modem are working good as well. All my hardware excluding my sound blaster 24bit sound card and cable modem are less than 6 months old. Haven't had any problems whatsoever.

I guess you dont need to know how to read to be a tech, i never said reinstall i said install to a new place... this leaves the old ET intact... and its a very easy way to check if it is a problem with the ET game itself or something more...

Btw the techs i call are a pain in the ass with all this check that check this shit... so i give ideas as i would like them to be givin to me...

And if i read right i was blank with errors like i knew it would be... (no windows blue screen no error code for a reboot)
now i think app is smart person and would have posted any errors so... i just guessed no bule screen.
And the reinstall worked...

Thats a printer nort not a computer game, thats 2 things of hardwear interacting... I would have asked the person to STEP by STEP do what they did to make it crash... i would then ask them to try to print a picture i was able to print... then would ask for the picture they were printing, (thinking it was the prob) thats if i was doing it on MSN... phone i would think it was what they were printing... in house i might have seen it was to large (i do alot of pic size error probs... for websites e-mails etc crashing or not being allowed to upload)

This was a game not even starting... when other games were working... a install *not re but new* would tell if it was a problem with the OS or something else OR with the game... if it did not work then i would start trubble shooting since nothing was changed by a new install of the game...

I could type more like how their was nothing to try again load = fail as where printer print = fail but i can try different stuff... etc... but apps prob is fixed that was the point of this (not say dont take my advice that worked...) and not to point out anything else...

@app i said a different location so you could *keep* your old ET and settings incase it STILL did not boot, so we would have your old et intact and we would then know it was NOT et causing the problem... =)
good to see its working again. I might try to scan the hard drive for errors might have a bad sector that ET was on... causing the prob...
So feel free to install it to the default place, it will just overwright any settings you had...

anytime you are installing existing software on your pc, whether it is an alternative location or original spot it is considered to be REINSTALLING the software. if it already existed and you are putting it on the pc again it IS a reinstall. i guess you need not undertand the definition of english words to be matt5. Second my illustration was not apples to oranges, it was discussing the fact that those "annoying questions" are to establish a baseline and isolate the problem. rather then just start throwing solutions at it as you can't assume anything and the root cuase and solution could be something totally simple as compared to a high level problem. No lets say he had let me work with him, we isolated the problem to a pk3 file he had picked up somewhere and i had him delete that pk3 file. That would have been a much simpler fix then having him reinstall the software so that now whenever he goes somewhere that has custom files or non standard maps he will have to download them again, as well as redo his profile, configurations settings etc... I would love to drop you into a real world business as tech support and see how long you lasted before they canned your ass. i would give it a week at most.

thus a reinstall means you are installing something AGAIN, i assume that since ET has been installed on the computer once, if you install it a second time that would be it was installed again thus it is a REINSTALL. normally i dont flame like this and i try to keep it to polite, BUT FUCKING LEARN ENGLISH BEFORE YOU TRY AND FLAME ME BACK ASSHOLE.
